What is WGM up to?!

I know, I know… it’s been a while since something was posted here but we are back with a new focus and introducing new shiny artists that are part of When Giants Meet now. There’s been a good amount of behind the scene happenings and a video game related project being worked on as we speak. Cool right? The true vision of this site is starting to materialize and very excited to see it grow yet again.

Currently we are reworking the site little by little so each collective member has their own corner here and once that is taken cared of, I will be formally introducing each member here and on social media with individual posts. You'll start seeing new pages popping up and them sharing their craft n’ thoughts. Also in the works is a Discord server for anything WGM related and channels ranging from art to crypto, it’ll be a chill hangout for our members and you guys out there so stay vigilant for that invite link on Twitter.

For now I want to at least give you a heads up on who the new members are and hope you give them a follow! We now have theOneCam, AJ, Crypt0Dad and The Hidden Level aka Johmby officially joining the hoard. These are individuals whom I’ve been personally inspired and embolden by, I’m extremely happy to have them be a part of the collective to create greatness and push each other upwards as a team. Once a few more things are set in place, their pages are going to be added but for now we got some work to do.

Thank you for all the support you’ve shown WGM and can’t wait to share even more with you all!

Stay Giant

R.I.P. Monkey Black

Monkey Black, a young emcee from the Dominican Republic who in certain ways bought a playful element to DR Hip-Hop and was as unapologetic as can be about where he came from was stabbed to death in Spain yesterday. Too soon and too young like all,  MB definitely was growing more in his craft and incredibly sad to hear this happened to one so young. There's way to much violence in this world and it's taking our youth bit by bit. For those that play the violence game to gain respect or "cred" please stop, it's not worth it and you're stepping into a world that you really rather not play in. When 'El Sol Y La Playa' came out, it instantly became a summer anthem in DR and obviously here in certain areas. Sure he heavily used auto-tune but overall it was catchy as hell so it stuck.

May the sun shine a bit longer for MB and those in the same game realize where it can lead to... if you let it.

Stay Giant.

Continuations and Positive Beginnings

Photo by Randy Ortiz Well 2013 was a hell of a year, it had everything from the biggest government fears unfolding in the media, hacking, new additions to our family, realizations and society perhaps waking up a little bit more. Resolution planting won't be a focus here but more on thoughts as a whole and continuing to work on the path I chose for a positive life, working on projects and exploring the world a bit more.

Many have a focus on getting their life right or losing weight or being nicer for a new year but why not just do that daily and not because it's a new year? Getting your life right starts from within and not others, remember that when you try to blame others for your problems. I mean if you didn't lose those 10 pounds with last years resolution, what makes you think repeating yourself one more year will do it? Just eat healthier... diets don't work people. Be nice, it'll make their day and yours, Karma has a funny way of checkin' yo ass also when it's time also. There's nothing wrong with being a good person and you will perhaps plant a seed in someone's life that'll make them do something or help them realize the world isn't all bad.

When Giants Meet... where do I start. It's been a crazy and shocking amount of blog accomplishments that this site has had so far since launch but now it's time to focus on collaborations and personal projects for WGM. I have gone thru a wide range of thoughts and emotions on what it means to be a good blog and where this type of "industry" is going, I don't like it and rather bring something new instead of being just another blog. The music and thoughts will continue to flow but there will be a heavy focus on certain things that go beyond just a blog post. Anyone can blog and the majority of sites out there have proved this theory correct, what else can you do tho? Let's show em.

Here's to the continuation of positive mental growth, more country stamps on the passport and good people.

Nintendon't Limit Yourself, Shine Get

Super-Mario-3D-World-32So now that PS4 and Xbox One is out, many sites are recommending the WiiU due to the lacking launch titles on the other two systems and the new Mario game (excellent) recently released. This industry is such a flip-flop mess... Now that the other two had just ok launches which usually happens, folks are writing about how good the WiiU is and can be. Don't get me wrong, I love that a great system is getting more love but the fact that even the NY Times is reporting about PS4 and Xbox One having nothing worthy to play along with Polygon saying waiting is good reads funny to me. I'm mainly a Nintendo head but I'll play anything that's good and all the flack that Nintendo gets for being "weird" or stubborn and slow to adapt is largely exaggerated but now sites are seeing the awesome so they hop on. There are certain things that Sony gets correct and Microsoft as well but Nintendo is now billed as the old man trying to be hip and is portrayed out of touch 'cause it doesn't share everything and guards their IP's with their life no matter the costs. No one can however deny that they don't know how to make games, all their 1st party releases on the WiiU have been fun and a refreshing change from bloody bullet ridden strategic first persons calls to duty in space with effect and now Super Mario is starting to change the opinion of the lil U that could.

Don't doubt.

Video games are meant to be fun, exciting and escapes from life or something that can traverse you to different realms while centered around a coat of reality. Some folks wean away from bright colors and cheerful themes, some of us do not but no one is wrong for it because it's a preference. While preference can somewhat hurt the industry, it's what is perceived and labeled that truly hurts it and makes the industry that we all love a bit less fun and more like work. What the whole point of this? If something is good then support or try it, don't just support it because the "hardcore gamer" crowd doesn't you got let down with something else as it can limit a great deal of wonderful games you can enjoy.
