Not too long ago I donated to a Kickstarter for an artist that goes by the name World Versus Me which by the way is a great name, I found him on Google+ then kept reading his posts and watching his video updates and decided it was time to open thy wallet to good music. He has released a 4 track demo album to share with everyone for free if you use Google Music) while we all wait for his new album to be completed and all that good stuff. It's a collection of his songs that have been licensed to Sony for an inFamous 2 trailer and Spike TV's Degrassi for promos, also serves as a nice intro to his sound. Also don't forget to check out his Bandcamp page for details/ordering on his new project. Download the EP on Google Music.
Ok so the highly anticipated album from Rasheed Chappell 'Future Before Nostalgia' has been out for a few days and it is an amazing collaboration between Rasheed and Kenny Dope, I will have a review for this album up soon so keep a look out. I can honestly recommend this album before the full review... it's that good. Boom Bap and true lyricism is in raw form from Chappell and the Dope man has brought the best of what we are missing in Hip-Hop beats now. I'm loving the album and I knooooow you will too if you like Hip-Hop Check it out on iTunes! My music brother from another mother D recently told me about Muhsinah and I had to download that 'Gone' EP, I heard good things about this artist and any association with Flying Lotus is good enough for me! You can download it for free off her shop. Recently got into the Steve Martin's Bluegrass albums and bought the latest one 'Rare Bird Alert' which is a first for me, I've liked bluegrass before but never to actually purchase it and now I have.
This Afro Latin Vintage Orchestra 'Ayodegi' album is another true surprise for me like Gagadilo, they are a French band and when I tell you these guys sound fantastic oh man... they take you there. I will be doing a review for this soon as well so stay tuned(tabbed) to WGM for that. I'm a big Björk supporter and somehow this fell under my radar (yrs ago) so all late I am finally getting around to hearing it, a compilation of different artists for a tribute to her 'Post' album. It has some familiar faces and even a WGM favorite El Guincho from Spain makes an appearance, if you're interested in downloading it you can get it here.
Obviously I have some listening to do, hope you guys follow along and let me know what you guys think on Twitter!
Peace and stay Giant.
This last weekend we passed by the LAMC event at Central Park's Summerstage to finally catch a live set of Dominican artist Rita Indiana y Los Mysterios. As you will see her partners in dance had some questionable (FILA short shorts) gear on, but regardless it was awesome to finally see a Dominican artist on the LAMC bill. The energy was fantastic and so was the music, you will also hear Marlon a best friend of mine yelling "Semillaoooow" at the beginning of the first video compilation below of the songs "Jardinera" and "El Juidero"... retard haha. The second video is one of my favorite songs "La Hora De Volve" I hope you all dig it as much as we did. This event had a great representation from Columbia and DR in the crowd this year and as always nice to see people from different backgrounds uniting in music.
The WGM long lost footage continues with part of a performance that The Pinker Tones did at Le Poisson Rouge. The place was packed and everyone enjoyed the music by staring or clapping and jumping for joy, we managed to get some footage of 'Sampleame' which has quickly become one of Lil Giant's favorite songs. Also below the video are some pictures of that night!
