Jersey's ill emcee Rasheed Chappell got a new video for "Break Loose", one of the dopest tracks on 'Future Before Nostalgia' (produced by Kenny Dope) and continues the tradition of Hip-Hop as an art-form. This has to be one of the best old school HipHop tributes in video form that I've seen in recent times, shot by Zunbug Turskee in conjunction with Creative Control, they keep the true essence of creation and flow visual graphics beautifully with the track. Crazy that I can see this video and know it came out in 2012, it mimics the beloved era and looks so well.
St Joe Louis recently released this track which means a lot to them as the person that was creating it with them took a different path and went to the armed forces. Fortunately this song still came out and features one of NJ's best Rasheed Chappell, also the vocals of Peter Hadar elevate the beat. Another great example of Giants working together! 'Sheed continues on his path with focus and determination on staying sharp, another fine example of what this emcee has to offer. Produced by the master Kenny Dope, that soulful intro soothes the beast and brings inevitable head nod. Peace to them both, keep up the great work!
Ok so the highly anticipated album from Rasheed Chappell 'Future Before Nostalgia' has been out for a few days and it is an amazing collaboration between Rasheed and Kenny Dope, I will have a review for this album up soon so keep a look out. I can honestly recommend this album before the full review... it's that good. Boom Bap and true lyricism is in raw form from Chappell and the Dope man has brought the best of what we are missing in Hip-Hop beats now. I'm loving the album and I knooooow you will too if you like Hip-Hop Check it out on iTunes! My music brother from another mother D recently told me about Muhsinah and I had to download that 'Gone' EP, I heard good things about this artist and any association with Flying Lotus is good enough for me! You can download it for free off her shop. Recently got into the Steve Martin's Bluegrass albums and bought the latest one 'Rare Bird Alert' which is a first for me, I've liked bluegrass before but never to actually purchase it and now I have.
This Afro Latin Vintage Orchestra 'Ayodegi' album is another true surprise for me like Gagadilo, they are a French band and when I tell you these guys sound fantastic oh man... they take you there. I will be doing a review for this soon as well so stay tuned(tabbed) to WGM for that. I'm a big Björk supporter and somehow this fell under my radar (yrs ago) so all late I am finally getting around to hearing it, a compilation of different artists for a tribute to her 'Post' album. It has some familiar faces and even a WGM favorite El Guincho from Spain makes an appearance, if you're interested in downloading it you can get it here.
Obviously I have some listening to do, hope you guys follow along and let me know what you guys think on Twitter!
Peace and stay Giant.
Wow. So get this folks... the album a good amount of us have been waiting for is almost here (July 12th). I remember meeting Marcus and talking to him about said artist and conducting an interview, then instantly becoming a fan when I heard his music and met the guy. Went on to do the interview, take some shots for him, design some covers and even make my first video (Thanks Sheed!) for him just because I believe in his talent. I was embraced by his people and felt like a part of something big, seeing that ill J Dilla LP and all that crazy equipment in the studio was insane Kenny! Rasheed is a cool talented artist and felt blessed I was able to participate in part of his voyage to the top... you deserve it dude and with the prowess of beat-master Kenny Dope I KNOW you will get there.
