Upcoming Album Reviews for January

Let's try and make a habit of posting the upcoming reviews I have in the works shall we? I'm officially starting said "habit" today with 4 album reviews hitting the site here this week. First album 'My Favorite Demons' a collaboration between 2 fantastic groups (almost all) from Jersey, Brokn Englsh, St. Joe Louis and the duo from Geneva JR & PH7. Up next is 'La Bala', the upcoming album to the grammy nominated '1977' from Ana Tijoux, highly regarded as the leading female Hip-Hop emcee of Latin America.

The new EP from Deal the Villain is out and about, being one our favorite emcee in Jersey you know I had to have this on the site and will be nothing short of classic DTV goodness. Last but certainly not least is Dewey Decibel and his #BoomboxBookworm project that has a nice change of pace from my usual East Coast sounds, produced by Eligh (Living Legends) this one has dope written all over it.

I have linked the album covers to their respective projects except for Ana's and Dewey, I linked to the free singles so feel free to check them out. The Ana Tijoux and Dewey Decible projects don't come out till January 31st but we will have early reviews for both projects here.

Stay Giant

Myk Dyaleks - Make 'Em Yell(ow)

The solo project of Myk Dyaleks (Brokn.Englsh) 'Make 'Em Yell(ow)' reminds me why I like to listen to music at night. I listened to this album on a flight back to the U.S. last night at 11pm after shuffling around trying to find the right soundtrack for the night. It fell right in place where I was at, straight chill mood while high in the sky. The album has a relaxed mood to it while creating a soulful social experience with dope lyrics that keep it from the usual stagnant materialistic views in Hip-Hop. 'Make 'Em Yell(ow)' tells you to slow down and it does just that in a way where Myk's views come thru with utmost clarity while maintaining that laid back feel.

I always look forward to an album that can be considered more than just good music, 'Make 'Em Yell(ow)' falls into this category. It's not just about the lyrics or how dope the beat is... more on how nicely everything comes together as a complete. It has hints of rock and soul which makes it more an experience which has the varied yet cohesive package we love in our music. I know the Yell(ow) is symbolism for sunshine and all but I think this is best played late at night or after a busy day. Hip-Hop transcends strictly headphones along with ruffin and thuggin once again so purchase the goodness below at the well worth price of 5 dollars.

Oh yeah the homie Deal the Villain mixed the whole project too... JERSEY!

Myk Dyaleks On Life: On Schools

Part of the fantastic NJ HipHop Trio Brokn.Englsh, Myk Dyaleks has a new project coming out on November the 11th and he's making a video series to further introduce himself to folks and let them know where he's coming from. He makes a great point about school and finding out what you truly want to do instead of trying to figure it out while going which can be very expensive and a horrible waste of time. An artist with a message, a GOOD message is always great. Looking forward to the project and the message your giving Myk!
