Stay Gold...

First Aid Kit's 'Stay Gold' is mesmerizing...
I heard them on the Conan O'Brien show recently and couldn't move away from the groups performance. This track has a dusty, sun in your eyes feel to it while haunting and familiar. Decked out in shiny glittery gold, they seemed to have just stepped out from my mothers favorite vinyl and I liked them more for it.

Melodic Doom by Black Moth in Room 13

This song starts with the ferociousness of a hungry running jaguar and the voice projected high with enough power to be afraid of her. What's not to like? Oh, add in the fact that this was filmed in a 200 year old haunted mansion for a lil twist. Harriet Bevan has a powerful voice that sounds fantastically addicting as the band erupts clean, open and heavy punches for your ears. Black Moth's new video is from the upcoming album 'Condemned To Hope' which comes out this fall.

I hear a bit of Sabbath in it. So I'm hooked.

Ana Tijoux Spits Somos Sur with Shadia Mansour

The femcee Ana Tijoux is no stranger to spittin' about politics and civil unrest, now Palestinian Shadia Mansour lends a rhyming hand to support her message of uplighting and empowerment no matter where you live. This track is off her 'Vengo' album which you can buy now on iTunes. Those horns tho...

Much respect to international strength and collaboration for a positive message.

WVM The Echoing

There's something special to me about this video and I think I found what it is... it's a feeling of belonging I think. Perhaps it's WVM's sound which reminds me of the 90's, NIN (Chris Vrenna and Josh Freese are on this track) and Marilyn Manson's Mechanical Animals or Holy Wood along with the ever-present hacking and underground tech society at that time. It was one of those seeking knowledge times where it shaped part of who I am and why I question things, needless to say it's important to me and it was the boom of computers at that time as well. I really like the sound because it's familiar while still being new. I drifted... So the guys at Shining Dark Productions contacted WVM to create a video for 'The Echoing' and months later (with no creative input by the artist) made a very cool video. It fits the sound extremely well and the framing overall is great, well done guys! You can also listen and buy the EP that this song is featured in below.
